Beneficiaries of the Terlingua Preservation Society from last year's event (Terlingua 2011) included:Terlingua Fire and EMS - received $4000 cash, sold refreshments and tee shirts to participants and spectators at airport track event day, plus staff at airport track events were paid and fed lunch
Terlingua High School activity fund - enthusiastic students raised over $4,750 cash, part of it as they gained memorable "hands on" experience from washing a wide variety of awesome vehicles designed by Carroll Shelby
ActiVets - "Healing the Wounds of War with Wilderness" received $4700 cash
Many local businesses
enjoyed support during their normal "shoulder season" through purchases by event participants of gas, food, lodging, gifts, and services. All supplies and
services for the event were purchased in and around the Big Bend community.
Many, many local residents came out and enjoyed free time with event participants and their awesome Shelby cars. The Alpine car
show at The Stable was offered free to the community as was observation of all speed events at the
Lajitas airport.
